Worship is communing with God and delighting in Him. You were created to worship Him and to enjoy Him forever. He is much greater than we realize and more delightful than we can imagine. We pray that our music will help you realize this.
Music can provide some of the deepest enjoyment we are able to experience. Isn't it amazing that God has commanded us to use such a pleasurable thing in His worship? Or perhaps it isn't so amazing. It's just another proof of His extravagant generosity.
Opportunities for Ministry through Music
The Praise Band leads the congregational singing during the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. services each Sunday. They lead a mixture of hymns, contermporary songs, and familiar gospel songs. The group consists of drums, piano, bass guitar, and rhythm guitar. More instruments would be welcome, including brass and woodwinds. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Membership by audition.
The Adult Choir is a group of called volunteers that ministers to the church through leading worship in the 11:00 a.m. service each Sunday. They perform anthems and join with the PBC Orchestra to give musical presentations at Christmas and at Easter. They rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The choir is open to all who are willing to be faithful to attend the rehearsals and worship services.
The Youth Choir sings a variety of music from the latest worship songs to music that has sustained God's people for centuries. They sing in the 11:00 a.m. worship service and present a musical at the beginning of each summer. Membership is open to all youth in Grades 7-12. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings 6:00-6:45 p.m.
The Orchestra ministers to the congregation by leading in the 11:00 a.m. worship twice each month. They lead the congregational song, accompany the Adult Choir, and play preludes and offertories. They also accompany the Adult Choir in their Easter and Christmas productions. Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:15 p.m. Membership is open to those playing at an intermediate to advanced level. The Joyful Singers is a choir of Senior Adults that provides its members with lots of great music and laughter. They present music in worship and perform one musical each year. They rehearse in the sanctuary on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of each month from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Membership is open to all who love to sing.
Worship Arts & Music Groups are for children in grades 1-3 and 4-6. The goal of these groups is to train children in the joys of biblical worship. They meet on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. respectively. We participate in worship through use of instruments, singing, drama and creative movement.
